Building sustainable ecosystems for creatives
Red Roof Group is a creative enterprise dedicated to helping creatives build sustainable careers, ventures and lasting cultural value through music, publishing, consultancy, learning, production and investment.
Red Roof Studios, Singapore, 2012–2020
Exceptional creative work deserves equally exceptional business thinking.
Our six businesses are built to feed one another. Every project we take on produces three things, and each pillar turns one of them into value the others can use.
Intellectual property
Records and Productions make the work. Publishing and Investments make it pay.
Talent
Artists, writers and producers grow with us, and bring the next generation in behind them.
Know-how
Consultancy and Learning turn what we have learned into income and new talent. The returns fund the next cycle.
Six pillars, one enterprise
Each business stands on its own and strengthens the others.
-
RED ROOFRecords
The label where it began in 2012. A home for Singaporean and regional artistry, and a catalogue built to last.
-
RED ROOFPublishing
Looking after songs and the people who write them, so the work keeps earning for years after release.
-
RED ROOFConsultancy
Strategy for artists, institutions and brands, drawn from two decades of building careers and labels across Asia.
-
RED ROOFLearning
Programmes that give creatives the business foundations to turn their craft into a lasting practice.
-
RED ROOFProductions
Albums, performances and projects made with care, from the first arrangement to the final stage.
-
RED ROOFInvestments
Patient capital for creative ventures, where we share the risk and the upside over the long term.
It started with one musician and a problem she had lived.
Ruth Ling is a Berklee-trained pianist, arranger and producer who toured the world's stages with Stefanie Sun and others, and was recognised with the NAC Young Artist Award and the COMPASS Artistic Excellence Award. She kept meeting Singaporean artists with real talent but no business scaffolding to make a career last.
In 2012 she started Red Roof Records to give local artistry a proper home and a route out to the world, producing work such as the SG50 album Sing Love. Over the next decade she led A&R and label operations in Greater China with Universal Music and RCA, working across Boston, London, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Singapore.
Red Roof grew with her, from a record label into a creative enterprise designed to outlast any single release, or founder.

What we hold to
- Craft before attention.
- Systems before shortcuts.
- Long-term before short-term.
- People before ego.
- Legacy through sustainability.
How we work with partners
We work with a small number of partners at a time, and we work with them for the long term. Whether you are an artist, an institution, a brand or an investor, the shape is the same: we bring the systems, the craft and the network; you bring the ambition and the mandate.
We are comfortable sharing risk, IP and upside where the alignment is real, and we would rather say no early than over-promise.
